This WoW Herbalism Guide (updated for patch 4.3) will take you through the best routes to get your Herbalism level to 525. It can be used by anyone to get their skill up; however, watch the zone levels in case you are gathering with a lower level character. Before starting this guide be sure you have Herbalism trained and your bags are empty, as you will be collected lots of herbs.
If you are using this guide to get herbs to use with Alchemy keep in mind that this guide is designed to raise your skill level as quickly as possible, but might not provide you with the herbs you need to make worthwhile Alchemy recipes. If you are power leveling your Alchemy I suggest using this guide to get your Herbalism up initially and then buy the extra supplies you need off the auction house to make additional lower level Alchemy recipes. If gold is a problem check out this Gold Guide.
When following these routes remember that the lines outlined on the map are just basic routes to follow and that the herbs will be spread around on both sides of the lines drawn on each map. Also, if you find you like a certain area or are having a very easy time collecting herbs there then stay in the area longer until all the herbs turn green or gray.
Zones: Elwynn Forest (1-10) and Tirisfal Glades (1-10)
All of the starting zones are loaded with herbs, you are bound to find loads of them by running just about any where in them.
Zone: Hillsbrad Foothillls (20-25)
Hillsbrad Foothills is a great zone for these levels.
Zone: Western Plaguelands (35-40)
There are a few things to note while farming in Western Plaguelands. First off start by farming the loop to the right of the zone along the water. Do this until you hit about 160 and then you can head off into the other areas marked on the map.
Zone: Eastern Plaguelands (40-45)
At about 260 the herbing in this zone will slow down a bit, you could at that point (or at any after 230) try Thousand Needles or just stick to Eastern Plaguelands. If you find that all this herbing has taken away from your gold making time look at this gold guide for tips on how to make more gold in less time.
Zones: Swamp of Sorrows (36-53)
Although you won’t get much variation of herbs, I’ve included this zone in the guide because the zone is loaded with herbs and you will level fast. There aren’t really routes to follow here, just run/fly anywhere in the zone and you’ll get the herbs you need to level. If you’d rather pick up some different herbs try farming in the Blasted Lands. Farm here until you hit 325 and then head to Hellfire Peninsula, you can also leave here at 300 if you want to.
Zone: Hellfire Peninsula (58-63)
Hellfire Peninsula is covered with Felweed, use the map as a general guideline to follow but remember that there is basically Felweed anywhere in this zone. Also, you can begin farming here at 300 if you’d like.
Zone: Howling Fjord (68-72)
You will find a lot of Goldclover in just about every area of Howling Fjord.
Zone: Sholazar Basin (75-78)
Here you will collect more Goldclover, along with some Tiger Lily and Adder’s Tongue until you reach about 435.
Zone: The Storm Peaks (76-80)
It will not take you long to finish off to 450, simply run around The Storm Peaks and before you know it you’ll be there!
Zone: Mount Hyjal (78-82)
You’ll be in Mount Hyjal from 450-475, just follow the routes on the map and you shouldn’t have a problem.
Zone: Deepholm (82-83)
I like Deepholm the best for finishing off to 525, there is one problem with it though and that is that you must be level 82 to go there. This shouldn’t present too many problems for most people, but if you are a lower level there are other options. If you are lower than 82 stay in Mount Hyjal until 500 and then at 500 move to Uldum to collect Whiptail (near the rivers).
